Baklava Rolls
RECIPE
- First, prepare the syrup: put the sugar in a large pan then pour water. Let simmer over medium heat. When it starts to boil, add the lemon juice then let simmer for 7 minutes. Put the cinnamon stick and set aside to cool completely.
- On a clean surface, brush the filo sheet with melted butter.
- Spread the finely chopped nuts over half the sheet.
- Spoon the coarsely chopped nuts on the short side of the sheet.
- Roll the filo sheet all the way through.
- Place the rolls on a buttered tin then cut into smaller rolls, of about 2.5cm long.
- Brush the baklava rolls with melted butter.
- Bake for 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 160°C.
- Pour the syrup over the rolls then bake again for 10 minutes on 175°C.
- Decorate with finely chopped nuts and serve when completely cold.
